Frequently asked questions

What is the best way to get there?

The easiest way to get to Landet is by car. It takes less than an hour from Stockholm, or 1hr 30 from Arlanda airport. Due to electricity constraints, at the moment we do not offer electric vehicle charging on site although this is on the cards for the near future. There are Superchargers about 25 minutes away at Sillekrog OKQ8 and also at Bomans Hotel in Trosa. Alternatively, it is also possible to reach us by public transport - see question below.

Can I enjoy Landet without a car?

Yes you can. There is an hourly direct train from Stockholm Central Station to Vagnhärad train station which takes 35 minutes. Times can be found at https://www.sj.se/. From there, it’s a 15 minute taxi.  It is also possible to take a taxi to supermarkets or restaurants, and the journey takes 15-20 minutes. We suggest booking through:

Sverigetaxi Trosa, +46 (0) 156 10 000

Åkerbergs Trafik, +46 (0) 156 34 000

How about food?

We are proud to offer ready-meals prepared by Chef Loui of Fina Fisken, one of Trosa’s best restaurants. We are also working with local producers to create larger meals which will be available for pre-order, we expect this to go live by the summer. In addition, there are a large number of great restaurants in the area which we encourage you to try, you’ll get our recommendations upon booking. We also recommend a number of farm shops which offer delicious local vegetables and meat. There is a large, fully stocked ICA supermarket in Trosa (open 07-22:00 every day).

What is there to do at Landet?

Plenty. Directly on site you will find walking and hiking trails, hundreds of acres of nature - including some islands - to explore, swimming spots, a firepit and a sauna. During the warmer months, you will also be able to use our yoga area, meditation area, outdoor gym, row boat, kayaks and paddleboards, and bikes. All is included in your booking.

What is there to do in the area?

Again, plenty. Our highlights are: the Sörmlandsleden (hundreds of kilometres of hiking trails) which can be accessed just 15 minutes away; the Culture Centre in Ytterjärna, with wonderful year-round exhibitions and concerts and the world-famous James Turrell Skyspace art installation; local castles; the Trosa Adventure Park; and Road 223 or “Utflyktsvägen” (one of the area’s best “road trip roads” which we are right next to). You’ll find these and more recommendations in our welcome pack which you will receive upon booking. In addition, we suggest checking out the websites of Trosa and Sörmland which have other suggestions and recommendations to suit all tastes.

In what way are you sustainable?

Sustainability is built into our concept from the foundations - quite literally. The entire project is built following what we call a "leave no trace" philosophy. Everything we have put in place, from infrastructure to the cabins themselves, which are built on plinths to float above the ground to leave it as untouched as possible, can be removed. So when the time comes, the site can be returned to exactly as it was before we arrived (or perhaps even a little bit better!). Of course, wherever possible we have chosen to use materials which are recycled or recyclable and to treat the beautiful environment around us with the maximum possible respect. If you have any questions or would like more information, feel free to reach out at info@landetstay.com

What size are the cabins and how are they equipped?

All cabins are identical and measure about 40 square metres plus two terraces. They are equipped with a full bathroom (with a normal flushing loo, a proper shower, towels, and high quality soap + shampoo) and a kitchenette with a hob, oven/microwave and dishwasher. Each cabin also comes with a coffee machine, cooking equipment, and basics such as coffee pods, tea, olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper. We love a good night’s sleep so offer extra comfortable king size beds with top quality sheets, duvet and pillows.

Is it possible to stay during the winter?

Yes, it is possible to stay with us during the winter months. In fact, those magical winter days are probably our favourite. The cabins are well insulated and, in addition to heating, are equipped with a fireplace and underfloor heating in the bathroom. You will also find slippers to keep your feet warm on the coldest days. As the forest around us can get muddy during the winter or after heavy rain, we recommend bringing boots or suitable shoes.

Is it possible to stay with children?

Yes, and you and your family are very welcome. The sofa beds in the living room are comfortable and full-size (each mattress measures 200 x 95 cm and 195 x 85 cm) and suitable for both children and adults. We have a cot and high chair, please drop us an email at info@landetstay.com if you would like to request it. If you have more than 2 children, and are happy for them to share a bed, you are very welcome to bring them as well. Finally, please note that the cabins are not fully childproof due to the hot wood stove and the steps. Just drop us an email if you have any questions and we are happy to help.

Are the cabins barrier-free and accessible?

We strive to be as inclusive as we can, but unfortunately the cabins are not wheelchair accessible at the moment. As we are located in the middle of nature, the cabins currently do not have paved paths leading up to them. There is however one cabin which is closer to car access and lower to the ground, and is the best suited to guests with limited mobility. Please contact us at info@landetstay.com if you’d like to know more and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Are the cabins safe?

Yes, safety is our top priority! Each cabin comes with a smoke & CO2 alarm and a fire extinguisher. If you have any issues during your stay, you can contact us on +46 73-370 7400 and we will help as quickly as we can. In case of emergency, dial 112.

Is it possible to park near the cabin?

The final stretch of road to the cabins is unpaved, so although it is possible to drive on it with any car and in any weather, we recommend caution. It is possible to drive up to about 10-30 metres from the cabins, which you are welcome to do if for example you would like to drop off your bags. However, to preserve the view and the feeling of peacefulness, we kindly request that you park in the designated parking area once you have dropped off your bags. This is between 30 and 150 metres from the cabins

Is it possible to purchase vouchers?

We think giving a loved one the gift of peace and quiet in the forest is a great idea. We offer vouchers for any amount, just contact us at info@landetstay.com we will help you fix a memorable gift.
